10 Great Player Who can't play in the Malaysia SUper League


Following on from the comments of experienced Australian attacker Ryan Griffiths, Goal’s Peter Davis looks at 10 other names that could not play in the M-League due to the tricky ruling.

10. Dong Fangzhou
Dong Fangzhou was last seen at China League One side Hunan Billows, the 28 year old former Manchester United and Royal Antwerp forward was still amongst the goals in the Chinese second tier in 2013.

9. Ryoichi Maeda
J-League legend Ryoichi Maeda of Jubilo Iwata suffered relegation to the Japanese second tier in 2013. Capped 33 times by Japan and scoring 10, he is also a two time J-League top scorer.

8. Alex
Highly rated 25 year old Brazilian forward Alex plays in the K-League Challenge with Goyang Hi FC, he scored 15 in 2013 in 32 games to attract interest from several K-League Classic sides.

7. Branimir Bajic
Bosnian international defender Branimir Bajic, formerly of FK Partizan, now plays in the German 3. Liga with MSV Duisburg. The 34 year old has 24 caps for his country and over 100 games to date in Germany.

6. Stephen Makinwa
Once worth 7 million Euro, Stephen Makinwa starts 2014 in China League One with Beijing Baxy. In 2013 he scored 4 in 11 following a move from Italy where he had spells with Lazio, Palermo and Atalanta.

5. Fabio Coltorti
Goalkeeper Fabio Coltorti currently turns out for rich German third tier side RB Leipzig. The 33 year old has 8 caps for Switzerland and moved to Germany following spells at Racing Santander and Grasshoppers Zurich.

4. Souleymane Youla
Former Genclerbirligi and Besiktas striker Souleymane Youla, capped 33 times for Guinea with 11 goals now plays in the French third tier with Amiens. The 32 year old has one African Nations Cup campaign to his name where his side got to the quarter finals.

3. Pascal Chimbonda
Once capped by France, Pascal Chimbonda now plays in the English third tier with Carlisle United. The experienced 34 year old defender had fruitful spells at Le Havre, Bastia, Wigan Athletic and Tottenham Hotspur but cannot play in Malaysia.

2. Takayuki Morimoto
Highly rated 25 year old Japan international attacker Takayuki Morimoto spent six seasons at Italian Serie A side Calcio Catania and now plies his trade in at JEF United Chiba in the J. League Division 2.

1. Edgar Davids
OK, he is 40 years old but Juventus and Ajax legend Edgar Davids, now player manager at English Conference Premier side Barnet F.C. would not be able to play in the M-League due to playing in the fifth tier in England.
